T1 Global Citizenship Project

Dr. Russell & Mr.Scozzaro

Introduction

Term One Essential Question:

What are the rights and responsibilities of citizenship?

Term One Project Question:

Once you are informed of a violation of basic human rights, how do you, as a global citizen, carry out your responsibility?

This project will put you in the position of being a global citizen in the real world. There is no role-playing here. So in the weeks we have left in term one, your job is take a serious, hard look at the world around you.

Each of you has chosen a country to follow. You will find a current event article for each of the items on the “menu” below. The “article” can be from a newspaper, a blog, or an online database. It can be written by someone outside or inside your country. We will be in the library during D3 on Wed. 10/17 to show you how to search for current events about or from your country. I was just looking through Gale’s World History in Context (http://ic.galegroup.com/ic/which) and it looks promising! You can search for your first current event at home, but if you can’t find anything, you can do it when we are in the library.

  • It is NOT REQUIRED to find a book review. You can write your own and bring it to class.

During class on the due dates, we will carve out 15-20 minutes of class time for you to meet in REGIONAL GROUPS to discuss your current events.

These current events assignments will count as individual grades in History (1-3) and English (4-6).

Once we get the current events under way, we will publish a document on the what you will do as a group for the final project for T1…
